Aldactone Dosage
Follow your doctor's orders or the directions on the label . Use this medicine only as directed. Take Aldactone exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Stopping Aldactone suddenly could cause your condition to worsen.
Uses of Aldactone

Spironolactone helps to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
- It is not a cure. It also reduces the swelling and water retention caused by various medical conditions, such as heart, liver, or kidney disease.
- If you have high blood pressure, you must take Aldactone regularly for it to be effective. Since blood pressure declines gradually, it may be several weeks before you get the full benefit of Aldactone; and you must continue taking it even if you are feeling well.
- Spironolactone is also used to help increase the amount of potassium in the body when it is getting too low.

Warnings and precautions while taking Aldactone:

If you are taking Aldactone, your kidney function should be given a complete assessment and should continue to be monitored.
- This medicine may make you dizzy. Avoid driving, using machines, or doing anything else that could be dangerous if you are not alert.
- Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to amiloride, spironolactone, or triamterene. Also tell your health care professional if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives, or dyes.

- Watch your diet while you are taking spironolactone. Ask your prescriber or health care professional about both potassium and sodium intake. Spironolactone can make your body retain potassium and you may have too much.
What to do if Overdose
- An overdose of this medication is unlikely to occur. If you do suspect an overdose, call an emergency room or poison control left near you. If the drops have been ingested (taken by mouth), call an emergency left for advice.
